I Will

I have a dream.

My dream is that when families have visited our church, they go back home and they talk about how "there's something different about the men in that church". And I'd like that something to be something good.

The kind of man that people should see at BFC is a man who reflects Jesus and all that he taught and all that he stands for. He is kind, he is generous, he loves his wife and makes her happy, he serves God, he is loving to all, he has a fantastic relationship with his friends, he is tender and kind to his children, he is a leader.

I Will is BFC's men's ministry. It came out of many years of my being part of men's groups that didn't really hit the spot for me. I Will became a reality after I saw the film "Courageous" - in the film, a bunch of guys learn what it is to become real men. They face some of life's most difficult situations and they learn to support each other in life and in their faith. Really importantly, they learn that men supporting men can sometimes mean being tough and truly uncompromising. In general men are pretty stubborn so it sometimes takes other men to beat them into what they should be. I Will is rarely about patting someone on the back and telling them they're great - it's about supporting each other in the way that we really need.

We are about to re-launch I Will. This isn't because there is anything wrong but because we want to take it to the next level. I would like to invite every man who is a member of BFC to consider whether they are 100% the man that Jesus wants them to be. If not (and, by the way, you're not) then I invite you to come along to an I Will film night on Tuesday 24 February, 7:30pm.

We will eat pizza, watch the film Courageous together and I will then share a little bit more about what I Will is about, what it can do for you and what you would be asked to commit to if you chose to be part of it. You will then need to have a think about whether I Will is for you. There will be no pressure to join - you'll just hear what its about and then make your own mind up.

It won't be for everyone but it IS for some of you so if you would like to come along to the film night, or would like to know more, then please speak to either me, Julian or Nick.

It could change your life.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
