The run up to Easter

It's this time of year when we need to start thinking more about Easter as a worship team so I’ve decided to share the songs we are learning for this Easter.  New songs take some time for us to learn as a church.  I need to make sure the worship team spends time getting to know the songs before we come to learn them as a group before practising them together.  We have to work out the arrangements of any new songs, what key we as a team we can sing them in as well as what keys are congregation friendly!  Once we've spent a few weeks practising them we start to introduce them on Sunday mornings so that you guys can start getting to know them in the way we play them, before we sing them at the Easter service.
The three lesser known congregational songs we’re singing this year are Calvary by Hillsong, Forever by Kari Jobe and Glorious Day by Casting Crowns. The YouTube links are here:

The great things about these songs are the way they tell the story of what happened at the cross and the truth they teach about the new life we can live in and the future promises that God gives us about Christ’s return! I'm excited about singing them with you all this Easter.  Please take a few minutes to have a listen (and sing along) to these tracks so you're ready when we start singing them on Sunday mornings over the next few weeks.
Now about Easter! This year we are having a good Friday service in the morning to remember the day that Jesus was condemned and carried his cross through the streets of Jerusalem before being nailed to it and dying.  We will remember what Jesus went through to secure our salvation and to defeat the enemy!  We’ll take communion together as Jesus did with his disciples before he died and celebrate the God we have who became a man and sacrificed himself for us in worship and praise.
Easter Sunday we will be celebrating our risen saviour!  O death where is your sting! This is the day we will lift our praises to the one who overcame the grave and went on to ascend to sit at the right hand of the father before sending the Holy Spirit to be our help and comforter.  With His help we will bring our praise and worship to God and we also have the added excitement of baptisms at the end of the service.  This Easter at BFC is going to be an exciting one so make sure you join us to take part in the celebrations.
