Mens football social 2015

Football2015FB-CoverV01

Men's football social returns on Tuesday 14th April, Station Road Gardens, 19:30-21:00, through to the end of August.  Basically a semi-competitive kick-about, with banter included, followed by refreshments.

The football social was set up to allow us men in the Church to socialise together and more importantly to use football as a way to engage with other men in the community, to be a focal point for our Church so we can show who we are as a Church and what it is to be a Christian man in Billingshurst.  This allows us the opportunity to invite our friends and their families to other Church events such as the Summer BBQ and Quiz Night.

The football social was set up with the intention of being for all men of the Church, if a certain level of fitness or skill level was required then half of us who already attend, including myself, wouldn't qualify.  We would be naive if we thought our guests who attend only have football as an interest/hobby, they will have other interests which they will share with other men in the Church who are not yet part of football social.  There will be men in the Church with little interest in football who have non Christian friends who are interested in football, it would be a shame if they missed out on this opportunity to engage with the Church.  God equips us all in different ways, we want all men to bring their particular gifts to football social so that we can fully engage with all our guests.

Therefore I encourage all men of Billingshurst Family Church to give football social a go at least once, if it turns out not to be your thing at least you can say you have given it a go.

Finally I would like to thank all BFC men who are already part of football social, we couldn't have done it without your, and by association your family's, commitment.

Simon
