Billingshurst Family Church!

I hope they couldn’t see the sweat pouring down my face as we ran around with our Red Barrows (mine weighed down even more with my 6 year old daughter).  Instead I hope they saw the pride and joy on my face as we again put ourselves on show to the village at Billishow 2015.

From our Red Barrows display team in the parade to our plate-smashing, selfie-taking marquee on the showground, it was a great day so thank you to everyone who came, who painted, who paraded and who chatted.  Thank you to Karen’s team who came up with the ideas and who worked the hardest.  Whether you held a cloud or chatted in the marquee, it was a great team effort, so well done.

And with these events, whether we come first in the parade or not, we still win.  For one day, we get to show our village that we are more than religious and we get to show them that being a Christian doesn’t have to be boring (a boring Christian is in fact an oxymoron).  We get to show that we want to engage with our community rather than hide from it.  The old adage is right; people won’t care what you know until they know you care’.  Because we want our community to care what we know, we do that by ensuring they know that we care about our community.

As it happens, we did come first in a parade full of brilliant ideas and enthusiast groups.  So this time, we got to win twice…even better!

But now we have a crown to defend, so let’s all gear up for 2016.
