What do you want for Christmas?

The most commonly asked question at this time of year…what do you want for Christmas?

We ask it so often to our families and friends.  And let’s be honest, in a culture where we have so much, Christmas shopping is hard because what do you get the friend, wife, husband, children, grandparents, nieces and nephews who already have all far more than they could ever need.

But maybe we should ask it once more – this time to ourselves.  And maybe we should look beyond the technology and toys, beyond what Argos and Amazon are offering us.  Maybe we should ask ourselves – what do I really want for Christmas? Or what should I want for Christmas?

Then the answers may be very different – less about things and more about times, less about possessions and more about peace.  Times of worship for the One whose celebration it really is, times of family where we remember together why Jesus came to earth, times of peace where the cares of the world are forgotten and where we invite the Prince of Peace into our homes and into our hearts.

‘What do I want for Christmas?’ is at the heart of our carol celebrations.  Do I want others to see Christ in their Christmas?  Do I want Jesus to get the first worship and the best praise?   Do I want to look beyond all the trimmings of the season to remember again that Christmas really is about God with us?  Do I want to lead my family and friends to that place of worship and peace…to enjoy Christmas as God intended?

What do you want for this Christmas?

We have already enjoyed a fantastic time last weekend.  Craig and the team did so brilliantly – the hall was beautifully decorated, the kids enjoyed their activities, guests spoke so well of the songs and the performances…and even some nice things were said about my talks (one aimed at the kids and one for the grown-ups).  And this Sunday we get to do it again…with some different songs, different talks and at a different time (10-11am).

So do come and join us, invite everyone you can…decide today what you really want for Christmas and then act on it.

And best of all, this answer to that questions is not just highly discounted…it is absolutely free.
P.S. And you are also invited and welcomed to come on Christmas Day – again at BCC from 10-11am.  Christmas fun and fellowship…and all are invited to stay for Christmas lunch as well.
