Newday 2016

Newday is a youth event for 11-19 year olds run by New Frontiers. It gathers around 7,000 young people to Norfolk Showground where they camp for a week in their church groups and are given masses of opportunity to meet with God. This year we took eight young people from BFC along with several leaders and we had an amazing time!

A typical day at Newday 2016 would involve: lots of loud and vibrant worship, top-quality teaching in main meetings and seminars, eating together, going to a variety of themed cafes (one of our favourites was The Cow Shed for amazing milkshakes!), sports activities (we entered both boys and girls into the football teams), dancing, eating cake, watching disgustingly messy games in the 12-14s (blowing a concoction of food into each other’s faces), emptying the slop bucket, praying together, having plaits in our hair, playing with baby Ben, late night games of Uno, volleyball and meeting with God.

The young people had a brilliant time and got on so well together, they were busy texting their friends back home during the week, to get them to come the following year! It was so good to see everyone engaging with God, seeing healings (one of our group got healed!) and having an opportunity to grow in God, experience worship with thousands of other young people and ask questions about their faith.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all the leaders (Nina, Newby, Ryan, Lizzie and Rachel) for giving so much of their time and energy to come along, and a particular thank you to Nina for cooking for us all week!

Bring on Newday 2017 (Monday 31st July - Sunday 6th August)! We’re looking forward to it already!
